Western lifestyle website showcases work of local artist

The work of local artist, Al Carr, is currently featured on the hottest new website, contemporarywesterndesign.com.

Created by Thea Marx, former executive director of the Western Design Conference in Cody, Wyoming, the website serves as an online magazine for western living.

In addition to featuring the work of artisans and craftsmen who continue to create unique furnishings, fashions, jewelry and accessories, the site also includes articles on interesting people who love the West,  beautiful western homes, book reviews, photography, hot picks, food and fun.

“This website has long been a dream of mine – a vehicle to help the independent craftsmen present their work to the world, and to present the world to the craftsmen,” says Marx.

Structured like a magazine, the website features innovations in web technology to make the site more user friendly. An example is the “Look Book,” which promotes the work of western artisans. By clicking on the corners of the book, the pages turn, as they would in a magazine.

Showcasing beautiful furnishings and fashion, the website also serves to promote the western lifestyle through interviews, photography, commentary and articles. Alternative housing, as well as sustainable, “green” lifestyles will also be a prominent part of the website.

“It’s important to me that we promote environmentally-friendly options for living in the West,” Marx says.
